The Great Lakes Forestry Centre (GLFC) is one of five CFS centres located across Canada. Its people fill key Government of Canada roles in research and development, program development and delivery, and policy-making at national and international levels. Scientific research areas include forest ecology, impact of global climate change, insects and diseases, forest health, biodiversity, biotechnology, landscape analysis, hydrology and aquatic systems, fire behaviour and impact, and forestry practices. GLFC also helps to coordinate and deliver additional programs, including the First Nation Forestry Program and Model Forest Program, which provide national leadership in sustainable forestry. The front lobby has been set up as short self-guided tour. If you visit, you may see terrariums and aquariums with various live creatures in them, videos, insect displays, posters, and publications. You can also visit the GLFC arboretum, home to a wide variety of native and exotic trees.
