Potholes Provincial Nature Reserve

This nature reserve east of Wawa gets its name from glacial potholes and troughs scooped out of bedrock forming the riverbed of the Kiniwabi River. Nestled in the Boreal Forest 55 kms east of Wawa on Highway 101, Potholes is a remarkable geological site. Large holes called “potholes” were naturally drilled into the stream bed by rock fragments powered by glacial melt waters. The water still flows through these potholes and provides a site of great natural beauty and geological interest.Distance From SSM: 3 hours
