Downtown runs along Queen Street between Pim Street and Dennis Streets, a seven block stretch that is steeped in history. Queen Street offers a blend of businesses and services, tourist attractions plus a growing number of high-end residential units on many of the upper floors.
History - Many of the buildings were constructed of sandstone quarried from the area or have brick facades that reflect architectural influences from the late 1800s and onwards.
A Great Place to Stroll - If you’re from the area, take time to re-acquaint yourself with your Downtown neighbourhood. If you’re a visitor to our community, a stroll along Queen is great way to familiarize yourself with where we’ve come from and where we’re going. See the transformation that is taking place and anticipate what is yet to come. Your Downtown reflects the diversity of our overall community, so come on down and be a part of it.
Arts & Culture - Dancing, history, theatre music and art are all part of the downtown backdrop. Re-acquaint yourself with the museum or play tourist and tour the Bushplane Museum, Art Gallery of Algoma or Ermatinger-Clergue historic site. Take an art class and perhaps discover a hidden talent. Go to a nightclub and dance the night away to local and guest artists.
Services - Personal banking, financial planning and accounting services are all available here. Consultants in all capacities can meet personal or business needs. Planning a special event? We have florists, party planners and everything in between to make that occasion a memorable one.
Apparel & Beauty - From t-shirts to tuxedos or from swimsuits to lingerie, Queen Street offers diversity in apparel selection. Independently owned and operated, these retailers exemplify customer service and can help you make your personal fashion statement.
Body & Soul - Hairdressers and estheticians can help you put your best side forward. Make an investment in yourself by booking an appointment with a personal trainer or a fitness class. Need a dentist, a chiropractor or massage therapist? They’re here, too. Soul-searching? We have a traditional church plus meditative therapies that can help you look within to find your peace of mind.
Food - The coffee is always “on” Downtown. Experience a variety of restaurants from classic food fare to a taste of the exotic and everything in between. Try us for fine dining, lunch or take-out.
